122.171.20.30, 122.171.16.109[edit]

User: 122.171.20.30 (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log
User: 122.171.16.109 (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log
Reason for reporting: Repeatively asserting that photograph taken by myself is "stolen" from Flickr with copled statements without any verifiable evidence. No links, no comparison. IP address 122.171.20.30 and 122.171.16.109 can easily be recognized as the same user given behavior and CIDR. Siyuwj (talk) 00:50, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Siyuwj: while I think the DR is totally bogus, and have said so on the DR:
  1. one or two bad (but not nonsense) DRs are not usually treated as "vandalism"
  2. there is very little we can do about a hit-and-run IP user; do feel very free to come back here if this continues from the same IP range
  3. You should not have done this. If someone DRs your photo, you are literally the last person who should unilaterally remove the DR notice from the photo.
In short, not much we can about this right now, and please try to do things right yourself if you are going to report other people for admin sanctions. - Jmabel ! talk 03:19, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Report a putative copyright violation indicating the source as «internet and Flickr» might not be vandalism, but it’s surely either trolling or lack of competence. If repeatedly done by a logged in user, the sanction would be a few days block, at least. But it was done by an IP so nothing can be done — because for some reason IPs are allowed to file DRs. And yet they shouldn’t. -- Tuválkin 05:06, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Tuvalkin: are you suggesting we would accomplish something by blocking what appears to be a hit-and-run IP? Also "repeatedly" is the key word here: they did it exactly twice, for Siyuwj's photo and for a cropped version of the same photo. - Jmabel ! talk 07:10, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I’m not: Playing whack-a-mole with IP blocking would be indeed fruitless and affect negatively legitimate IP editing. I’m suggesting (again) that IPs should not be allowed to file Deletion Requests. -- Tuválkin 08:34, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
