Your revert[edit]
Hi TheAafi, you've reverted my use of {{Copyvio}} with the rationale not an exact copyright violation albeit the file was previously published on Instagram. The file here has full meta-data and indicates it has been uploaded in high resolution. Please do not do this again. For {{Copyvio}} a proof of a copyright violation is sufficient, we do not need to provide link to the exact image that have been uploaded. {{No permission}} as suggested by you is justified if source and authorship appear to have been properly given. Cases of {{Own}} rarely fall into this category. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 14:10, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- @AFBorchert, I take your point and agree with everything you said but I'm not satisfied that this image falls into the category of copyright violation. What made me revert your {{Copyvio}} tag is the full metadata and the image quality. I'd have not reverted it if there was such clear indication of copyright violation such as what we have on File:طلای لیگ جهانی ترکیه.jpg. I'd love to hear from you on this. Doesn't the availability of meta-data (including Camera name and model) suggest anything? ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:22, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi TheAafi, full availability of meta data and the fact that this was also uploaded by the depicted person on Instagram makes it likely that the uploader is close to the depicted person (or even identical to the depicted person). But this is still a copyright violation even if the uploader has been in contact with the photographer. The least the uploader could do is honesty. And if there is no honesty or care about copyright, I consider it appropriate to speedy this even if it is not unlikely for the uploader to obtain a permission.
