Removing spot[edit]

Article(s): w:ru:Костёл Святой Анны (Раков) and other languages.

Request
I did not notice spot on lens or ultraviolet filter before going on photo-session, so it's necessary to deal with consequences. It's more question about relatively easy fix, because two days photo-session was large (~ 200 photos), so I don't want to dump such job on other person. Photos in gallery are just examples. Complete set of uploaded photos of this subject are File:Belarus-Rakaw-Church of Anne-3.jpg - File:Belarus-Rakaw-Church of Anne-16.jpg. Automatic ones would be definitely better, because of my overall "expertise" in graphics editing. What are best tools for automatic fixing such problems, preferably open-source or not too expensive proprietary, if former is not available? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:57, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)

@EugeneZelenko: It seems that you are probably oversensitive. The dark spots in the first photo are probably shadows of something off-set. Both photos are sharp, contrasting and with saturated colour. Despite my efforts, I couldn't spot anything that needed improvement. I would leave these photos in their current state. PawełMM (talk) 20:34, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Spot is on sky on first photo (near center). On second photo it is on the tip of the cross. See also File:Belarus-Rakaw-Church of Anne-12.jpg - on sky on left side near center. EugeneZelenko (talk) 02:52, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@EugeneZelenko: In my opinion, these are minimal errors that can be trivialised. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a tool to remove them automatically. The only thing left is the individual retouching of each photo. And this involves an amount of work that is disproportionate to the effect achieved. PawełMM (talk) 11:55, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What are best tool(s) for retouching individual images? EugeneZelenko (talk) 16:45, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Looks like dust on the lens or filter. It can be easily removed from the first photo using the Clone Tool in the Gimp or similar software. It's much harder in the second as it overlaps detail but is not very prominent so can likely be ignored. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 18:17, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Article(s): s:en:Index:These Old Shades (Heyer 1927).pdf

Request
I'm working on transcribing These Old Shades at Wikisource, and would like to include the cover art. Could someone crop this image, straighten it up and fix the way the bottom right corner is lighter than the rest? For the record, I own the book and am happy to attempt another picture of the cover if this one is inadequate, but there's not much I can do about the tape or the missing corners, and I'm probably a worse photographer than the bookshop people who took this photo. Just as a note, I have also requested vectorization at Commons:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop#Vector version of File:These Old Shades 1927 cover.jpg. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 23:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Contrast rebalancing needed on photograph[edit]

Article(s): Nestor Makhno

Request
I need the contrast on this photograph to be rebalanced, as currently the lighter colours blend into one another (e.g. Nestor's and Elena's hands with the table, Elena's skin with her dress, details on Elena's face, etc.). A cropped variant of the photograph with a different contrast can be found in Ogoniok, issue 22, and has been reproduced here. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. --Grnrchst (talk) 16:56, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
