Apparently people are not willing to let go of this

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jmabel&oldid=837613895#vi-Wikipedia_dramas

I am blocking User:Đại Việt quốc for a month and unilaterally deleting the obviously out-of-scope File:MyFirstBlog30Dec2023.pdf. If someone else decides to block User:Nguyentrongphu, I will not object. User:JrandWP appears to have been just trying to be helpful in explaining what is going on, and should certainly not be blocked for this. - Jmabel ! talk 18:25, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Before someone blocks me, let me at least explain myself. First of all, I NEVER wanted to import drama to Commons. I simply reported an incident then defended myself afterwards. After the warning from admin Jmabel, I already let it go. However, I saw a misused picture, so I simply reported Đại Việt quốc for the second time. That's all. If anything, I will just become a victim of collateral damage from reporting a misused image. As you all can see, my last 50 edits in Commons can trace back to 2010. That means I don't want to make any trouble here and have no intention to stick around. You guys will probably never see me again. Thank you for everything! Changes to Special:Tags

Could an administrator please change the tag for "computer-aided-tagging-revert" such that it can also be "Applied manually by users and bots". Background is that I'm planning to use that tag for this: User:SchlurcherBot/Mass revert computer-aided tagging (further details are also availible on this page). Thanks Schlurcher (talk) 13:45, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I would suggest to use a new tag for this for easier differentiation between manual and bot revert. GPSLeo (talk) 15:57, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That would of course work as well. Could you set this up and let me know the tag name? Schlurcher (talk) 16:27, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could someone please generate a tag and set up the corresponding messages?
Thank you. --Schlurcher (talk) 21:35, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For some strange reason these two files are cascade protected so I can't edit them. Could please anyone add the Template:Urheberrechtlich geschützt? By German law, the movie unfortunately is still protected until 2042. For the png also the Template:Trademarked is missing. Pleaso add this, too. -- Chaddy (talk) 16:32, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Chaddy: not a strange-reason. These files are auto-protected because they are on the Main Pages of en-wiki and zh-wiki respectively. ─ The Aafī (talk) 16:34, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know, but this kind of protection even for trustworthy experienced, long-time users is not very reasonable. -- Chaddy (talk) 16:37, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I removed the video from Commons:Auto-protected files/wikipedia/en, and added this template to both files. File:Steamboat Willie.png is protected because of some use on Chinese Wikipedia. I am not sure about the trademark. The character depicted in later versions of Mickey films is still under a copyright, but is there a trademark on this version? Yann (talk) 16:57, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
KrinkleBot readded the file in Commons:Auto-protected files/wikipedia/en, and I don't understand why, as it is not in the Main Page any more. Yann (talk) 17:44, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Yann, It's because images on en:Wikipedia:Picture of the day/On the main pages are also auto-protected. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 18:09, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you so far! But yes, the mouse is still trademark protected. Thus, the template is needed. -- Chaddy (talk) 20:13, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I added {{Trademarked}} to File:Steamboat Willie.png. —RP88 (talk) 20:52, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you very much! -- Chaddy (talk) 02:06, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request uncontroversial deletion of a file I uploaded

Could an administrator please delete this: File:Insurgent Mexico.djvu

I uploaded it using an importer script. I believe due to an incorrect choice when using that tool, the pages are misaligned with the text layer. I'd like to re-import, but I can't do so unless this file is deleted. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 00:40, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Peteforsyth: Sure, but for the future see {{My bad upload}}. No need to come to COM:AN for this. - Jmabel ! talk 01:29, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for the help and the info @Jmabel: ! -Pete Forsyth (talk) 02:18, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"Restrict MP3 uploads"

Hi, I think this file is in PD per imslp platform indications[1]. However, Upload Wizard would block my upload attempts with a "Restrict MP3 uploads" warning. Could you check it please ? Thanx +++ Archibald Tuttle (talk) 14:33, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/192 by trying to upload an mp3 file with insufficient rights. Too many people try to upload audio files that are still copyrighted by the authors, performers, recorders, publishing companies, etc. without proper licenses from those people. Please document fully the sources and licenses of your audio uploads, and request Autopatrol group membership at COM:RFR when you think you are ready (once you have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits); having that should allow you to upload mp3 files. Until then, you may reencode the audio into Vorbis or Opus and upload it with full documentation as an .ogg or .oga file (or use any other format accepted per COM:FT#Sound).   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:36, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Archibald Tuttle: you are a bit short of the 500 edits, but it's clear that you know what you are doing. If you want to apply at Commons:Requests for rights#Autopatrol and explain why you'd like to slightly "jump the gun" on this, you'll probably be approved. - Jmabel ! talk 20:38, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Jmabel: No, the issue is not that important. Does it exist any general WM Commons policy regarding imslp audio files uploading ? Cheers Archibald Tuttle (talk) 21:27, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hide previous versions of files with personal info on author

@MatthewDalhousie has uploaded new versions of files which remove personal info on author. See Commons:Help desk#Being respectful to the photographer for context. Would it be possible to hide the previous versions of the picture? The files are:

Import blocked by spam disallow list

Hello, I'm trying to move w:File:LyricWiki Main Page.png over from wikipedia to commons. However, when I try that, I get

"Import failed

The text you wanted to publish was blocked by the spam filter. This is probably caused by a link to a forbidden external site. The following text is what triggered our spam disallow list: lyricwiki.org."

Is this because there is "LyricWiki" in the title? I tried removing all "LyricWiki" mentions in the description and it still dosen't work. Can an admin move this over or help otherwise? Thanks. TheImaCow (talk) 20:43, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Try now, after this. It is because the url is still present in revisions which are imported, even if not present in the live version. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 21:19, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
✓ Done @Josve05a and TheImaCow: I went ahead and migrated it. It worked. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 22:43, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@The Squirrel Conspiracy and TheImaCow: As far as I can see, the file was originally uploaded to enwiki as non-free under fair use. Do you have evidence that the content of this project is distributed under the free license you specified? --Komarof (talk) 07:22, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Almost all former Wikia/Gamepedia/now Fandom wikis are licenced under CC-BY-3.0 licence. Lyric wiki included. The Main page screenshot here dosen't include any potentially copyrighted lyrics. TheImaCow (talk) 07:48, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Speedy deletion

Please speedy delete the files in Category:Temp - Andy Mabbett - speedy deltion, which I just uploaded in error as part of larger batch. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:37, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

✓ Done. Maybe for next time you can instead add Category:Other speedy deletions (I guess admins will understand it's G7) or better put {{SD|G7}} using VFC. Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 18:15, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also: I created {{My bad upload}} to provide something easier to remember than {{SD|G7}}. - Jmabel ! talk 21:03, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rename file

Could someone please rename File:Lokrume helmet fragmant (GFB1683) 1.jpg to File:Lokrume helmet fragment (GFB1683) 1.jpg (typo of fragment)? I've added the {{Rename}} template and realize this isn't urgent, but I'm working in the article at the moment and it would be nice to get this sorted out quickly. Thanks, --Usernameunique (talk) 22:07, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • @Usernameunique: I will do this, but this absolutely did not call for coming to the Administrators' noticeboard. It would have been fixed in the article when the file was moved, anyway. Unless you are dealing with things like slander, serious hoaxes, etc., please use the normal channels to request a file rename. - Jmabel ! talk 23:58, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • ✓ Done Looks like User:The Squirrel Conspiracy got there before me. - Jmabel ! talk 00:00, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please advise that the number of files in the category is growing daily throughout the last week. Komarof (talk) 07:14, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
